RASHID’S REPLY TO YOU TUBE DOCUMENTARY: “SEVEN RED ONION PRISONERS WHO WERE TOO DANGEROUS FOR AMERICA” (2026) By Kevin “Rashid” Johnson
This video, specifically its reports about me, distorts the truth of who I am and my work, by mixing easily disproven misinformation with some factual material. It also misidentifies me with other people and criminal cases that didn’t involve me. It further seeks to mischaracterize me by profiling me alongside others whose criminal cases have particular notoriety.
This video is either a government-initiated misinformation campaign like the notorious illegal COINTELPRO programs of the 1960s-70s led by the then openly racist FBI against independent Black political groups and leaders, or it is just shoddy reporting and sloppy AI generated material. It’s likely a mix of both.
MISINFORMATION
Foremost, the 1991 murder case discussed in this video was not my case and did not involve me at all, although in my case was and am innocent.
Second, the photos of the guy with dreadlocks identified as me is actually not me at all. He is an afrocentric painter named Rashid Johnson, who is not and has never been imprisoned. We have nothing in common except that we’re both Black artists with similar names, although internet searches of my name often bring up his images and references to him.
His afrocentric paintings are nothing like my revolutionary pen and pencil drawings (a gallery of my own art can be seen on my website rashidmod.com).
Third, I am not presently confined in Indiana as the video falsely claims. I am right now in the South Carolina Department of Corrections, confined as Kevin Johnson, No. 397279.
ACCURATE INFORMATION
The story of my involvement in co-founding the New Afrikan Black Panther Party, (now the Revolutionary Intercommunal Black Panther Party), is basically true, as is the history of my involvement in exposing and resisting the inhumane and abusive conditions in the U.S. prison system, which has prompted may illegal abuses of me in response, including my repeated interstate transfers. Much of which can be read about on my website.
For further insight into what I have actually been involved in, there are several YouTube channels that can be consulted, such as @Smokinwordpoetrybykrj, @GulagUSA, @PantherLink, and other social media platforms.
