REFLECTIONS ON THE MOVIE “THE PASSION OF CHRIST” (2026) By Kevin “Rashid” Johnson

Reflecting on the movie
The Passion of the Christ
Leads one to question
The compassion of whites

Folks who imagine they right
Inflicting gruesome abuses
Against innocents
Inventing self-righteous excuses

Every outrage portrayed
Against the character Jesus
Was done to use by whites
Not some arrogant Caesar

Look back at the thousands of photos
From Southern lynchings
Savagery unrivaled
None want to recall or mention

In Georgia, Mary Turner
Mourned her husband's mob murder
She too was pursued
Cuz white folks heard her

Eight months pregnant
Hung upside down
Her belly slit wide open
Her baby fell to the ground

Whipped into a frenzy
The mob hollared and hooped
In reply to the child's cry
Its head smashed by a boot

But this abuse was not
Enough for depraved minds
Her hanging body then shot
Hundreds of times

And what of the mob killing
Of Maria Nelson
Her body hanged from a bridge
Right next to her son

Or the child Emmitt Till
Killed, beaten beyond recognition
These were actual ordeals
Not dramatized fiction

How much money went into
"The Passion's" production
While the history of our story
Is the target of destruction

Our suffering not so remote
It still happens today
Take Mike Brown, George Floyd
Prisoners like Aubrey McKay

But much larger are the slaughters
Across the world stage
Amerika's mass murders
An even worse outrage

Bombs and missile strikes
On hospitals and schools
So the rich can steal more wealth
And dictate who rules

In the lands of people of color
Death squads turned loose
ICE agents kill Amerikans
Your chickens come home to roost

Systemic media control
Aims to hide and silence
The evidence and victims
Of U.S. crimes and violence

Conservative Christians
The fascist right wing base
Apocalyptic psychotics
Afraid to hear and face

The truth of foul deeds
Committed in their names
From lynchings yesterday
To prisons now doing the same

The Trumps and Hegseffs in power
Take center stage
Use racist religious rhetoric
To wage Third World crusades

Revenge fantasies desensitize
The ways they behave
Whip up mass support for
Lands they want to invade

The innocent and defenseless
Targeted without a care
Millions of women and children
Lynch-bombed from the air

Millions more displaced
By this unjust slaughter
While the U.S. bars asylum seekers
Crossing its borders

The Passion appeals to the base
Of the Christo-fascist right
Which is just the modern version
Of the same ol' racist whites

Who lynched and murdered Blacks
In ways the movie portrayed
And want to see things now
The same as back in the days

Graphic violent cinema
Like "The Passion of Christ"
Is fuel to rile up
The poor white base of the conservative right
