Panthers Unite In Florida With Families Rallying Against Human Trafficking (2020)

On June 18, 2020, the New Afrikan Black Panther Party (NABPP) united with aggrieved families in Tampa, Florida in protest against the prevalence of disappearing Black and Brown women and children to the human trafficking. In Amerika, human trafficking occurs most prevalently in Florida, Texas, New York and California.

As of Jan 24, 2020, Tampa FL ranked 7th in the U.S. for human trafficking. Around the world, an estimated 30 million people have been kidnapped and trafficked, most often for sexual exploitation, slave labor and organ harvesting, and forms the world’s third largest crime ring. The racket generates an estimated $150 billion in profits per year. Children are taken for slave labor, sexual exploitation, to beg and for warfare. Women are taken for sexual exploitation as well, and also for domestic work. Men most often are take as laborers. Essentially, this is modern day slavery.

According to a Jan 17, 2020 ABC News report, human trafficking victims in the Tampa area are branded like animals with tattoos like lions’ heads or the names of pimps.

In the U.S., thousands of  Black and Brown people are disappeared by traffickers with the government failing to respond in any competent manner, in fact, officials have often been complicit. Multitudes of aggrieved families have been left to hunt for their loved ones on their own. This is especially the case in Florida.

In was in response to this crisis and the outcry of loves ones that this rally was held, and the establishment was put on notice that unless genuine efforts are made to counter this racket and find their missing loved ones, the people will put “boots on the ground” in FL and shut down business as usual in the state.

This round of protest, they advised, was just a warning.
