The rich capitalists

\nThrough soldiers guards and cop<\/p>\n
And a culture that teaches

\nEntertainment media
\nGlamorize them nonstop<\/p>\n
While the rest must
\nSell them our labor power
\nHour by hour
\nSlaves whose lives they devour<\/p>\n
We’re the ones
\nWho produce all the wealth
\nThat they steal and hoard
\nHidden on their shelf<\/p>\n
Withholding resources
\nOut of greed that we need
\nTo control our lives
\nAnd feed our seeds<\/p>\n
Conspiracy theories
\nAre a distraction
\nFrom the cause of our suffering
\nTo confuse our reactions<\/p>\n
While the real power
\nLies with the richest
\nPaid politicians do their bidding
\nAnd spit empty sales pitches<\/p>\n
About democracy
\nBeing in everyone’s hands
\nSo why are most politicians
\nRich white men?<\/p>\n
With a few dark folks
\nAnd women on the side
\nTokens used for stroking us
\nTo go along for the ride<\/p>\n
Keep us from uniting and fighting
\nLike in the past
\nThey HAD to make some concessions
\nSo their system could last<\/p>\n
Then distract us
\nSo we don’t see clearly
\nConfusing the real enemies
\nWith conspiracy theories<\/p>\n
Scapegoats
\nAnd exclusive boy’s clubs
\nAre not the cause
\nOf poverty crime sickness wars and drugs<\/p>\n
Nor racism sexism
\nAnd other contradictions
\nThat the rich manufacture
\nTo keep the masses in division<\/p>\n
The oppressed at each
\nOther’s throats
\nWhile they sit laughing at the top
\nIn swallow tails and topcoats<\/p>\n
Amused by their
\nSuccesses of the past
\nTricking us from fighting to overthrow them
\nTo now imitating their class<\/p>\n
No secret societies
\nPut Blacks on plantations
\nNor robbed this land
\nFrom the Indian Nations<\/p>\n
It was chasing the dollar
\nAnd selfish greed
\nThese were the seeds
\nThat created the need<\/p>\n
For stolen land and labor
\nThat produced
\nThe cotton and produce
\nThat rich whites used<\/p>\n
To seize wealth and power
\nIn the first place
\nFrom which suffering continues
\nDifferent name same face<\/p>\n
Compare the similarity
\nOf the station
\nOf yesterday’s slaves
\nTo today’s occupations<\/p>\n
Slaves worked
\nFor the owner’s profits
\nThey produced the goods and services
\nHe sold on the market<\/p>\n
He had to keep them fit
\nTo make his wealth
\nSo he fed clothed and sheltered them
\nKept them in good health<\/p>\n
Allowed some diversions
\nTo keep their minds fit
\nTo distract them from the suffering
\nHe made them live with<\/p>\n
Compare this
\nTo workers today
\nInstead of an owner’s upkeep
\nThe boss pays a small wage<\/p>\n
To buy diversions
\nAnd basic things to survive
\nBut they gotta keep working for the boss
\nTo keep the family alive<\/p>\n
The boss is
\nThe modern slave master
\nHe profits from the workers’ labor
\nPress them to work more and faster<\/p>\n
The only difference
\nMaster provided for the slaves
\nWhile the workers buy their own
\nWith a substandard wage<\/p>\n
If the slaves rose together
\nThey’d own it all and be free
\nThe same if workers seized
\nThe offices and factories<\/p>\n
The boss class is the enemy
\nJust like the slavers
\nBut they got us thinking capitalism
\nWorks in our favor<\/p>\n
