State officials have answered with an escalating campaign of retaliation:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"Lexical__ul Lexical__ul--depth-1\">\n<li class=\"Lexical__listItem\" dir=\"ltr\" value=\"1\"><b><strong class=\"Lexical__textBold\">1 May 2025 \u2013 Forced ICC transfer.<\/strong><\/b> Virginia used the <i><em class=\"Lexical__textItalic\">Interstate Corrections Compact<\/em><\/i>\u2014meant for rehabilitation\u2014to ship Rashid to South Carolina without his consent.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Lexical__listItem\" dir=\"ltr\" value=\"2\"><b><strong class=\"Lexical__textBold\">Transport abuse.<\/strong><\/b> Guards chained his wrists to his ankles (near-hog-tie) in a steel van with seatbelts removed; a high-speed run slammed him into the walls, injuring his left leg. He has <b><strong class=\"Lexical__textBold\">no MRI, no orthopedic care\u2014only an unreleased X-ray<\/strong><\/b>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Lexical__listItem\" dir=\"ltr\" value=\"3\"><b><strong class=\"Lexical__textBold\">Mattress-less solitary.<\/strong><\/b> From 1\u201313 May, and again since 20 May, he has been held in Restrictive Housing on a bare concrete slab in extreme cold with insects and mice.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Lexical__listItem\" dir=\"ltr\" value=\"4\"><b><strong class=\"Lexical__textBold\">PREA violation.<\/strong><\/b> <b><strong class=\"Lexical__textBold\">19 May, ~9 PM:<\/strong><\/b> a female sergeant stared into his dark cell for 30-45 seconds while he used the toilet\u2014cross-gender voyeurism barred by PREA; a camera faces his cell.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Lexical__listItem\" dir=\"ltr\" value=\"5\"><b><strong class=\"Lexical__textBold\">Retaliatory lock-down &amp; threat.<\/strong><\/b> <b><strong class=\"Lexical__textBold\">20 May:<\/strong><\/b> Captain Lasley and an intelligence officer cuffed him back to RHU. A Special Agent from SCDOC Inspector-General\u2019s office\u2014name sounded like <b><strong class=\"Lexical__textBold\">\u201cFreole\u201d (spelling uncertain)<\/strong><\/b>\u2014visited. <b><strong class=\"Lexical__textBold\">The agent\u2019s words (Rashid\u2019s summary, <\/strong><\/b><i><b><strong class=\"Lexical__textBold Lexical__textItalic\">paraphrased<\/strong><\/b><\/i><b><strong class=\"Lexical__textBold\">):<\/strong><\/b><br \/>\n\u201cTell your people to stop calling and complaining, or I\u2019ll charge you, keep you in the hole, and you\u2019ll get hurt.\u201d<br \/>\nTablet, phone, and email access were cut on the spot.
