I remember vividly
\nthe last time I cried,
\nI’d received an envelope
\nfull of photos of children who’d died…<\/p>\n

Under the occupation
\nof the U.S. military,
\nIn the middle east
\nin their efforts to carry<\/p>\n

Out wars in Afghanistan and Iraq
\nto control and suppress,
\nPoor Arab people
\nand to possess<\/p>\n

Their land their labor
\ntheir natural resources,
\nWhile pretending the danger
\nwas directed at U.S. forces.<\/p>\n

The children mostly babies
\nhad died gruesome deaths,
\nThere were hundreds
\nin the bloody throes of their last breaths.<\/p>\n

Some had their heads exploded
\nsome with limbs severed,
\nTheir families and communities
\nin anguish as they weathered…<\/p>\n

The pain of witnessing
\nthe horrible ends,
\nTo these innocent children
\ntheir young relatives and friends.<\/p>\n

I could not help but cry
\nas I took in these sights,
\nInflicted by hypocrites
\nfake champions of human rights.<\/p>\n

I was imprisoned at the time
\nwhen these pictures came,
\nThey were sent
\nby a comrade whom I won’t here name.<\/p>\n

I’d made the request
\nfor images to show,
\nIn my drawings U.S. crimes
\nthat many don’t know.<\/p>\n

Are committed daily
\nagainst poor people on foreign soil,
\nwhose lives are kept
\nin bloody turmoil.<\/p>\n

Solely because Amerikans covets
\nthe wealth of their lands,
\nAnd wants to have its
\ncontrol in their own hands.<\/p>\n

The guard who delivered
\nthese pictures that came in the mail,
\nStopped as he saw me pull
\nthem out in my cell.<\/p>\n

He was a veteran and remarked
\nthat I must be sick,
\nFor having someone send me such
\nhorrible flicks.<\/p>\n

I replied that it was
\nderanged indeed the images of those kids,
\nBut the sick one was him and his military
\nand what THEY did.<\/p>\n

For THEY WERE THE KILLERS
\nwho’d slaughtered those children,
\nAnd not just a few
\nbut millions upon millions.<\/p>\n

And that the real offense he took
\nat seeing those babies who’d died,
\nWas being reminded of crimes
\nhe’d shared in and wanted to hide….<\/p>\n
