I met a woman
\nstrong and fierce
\nmy heart
\nmy mind
\nmy soul she pierced
\nbrought me back
\nalive
\nshe revived
\nmy will
\nto not only survive
\nbut thrive
\nrekindled my
\nfire
\ntook my spirits higher
\nmade me aspire
\ngave me the desire
\nto be my best
\nmy limits
\nto test
\nto refine my mind like a diamond
\nunder stress
\nwho might she
\nbe
\nto ignite this
\nin me
\nexcite me
\nand enlighten me
\ninvite me
\nto be
\nbetter than before
\nshe showed me there is more
\nin this world
\nthan perpetual war
\nbut also there
\nis love to share
\nthe bonding of pairs
\nthat raises those in despair
\nfrom misery and loss
\nbeing
\ntorn and tossed
\namends that
\ncompensate
\nno matter the costs
\nthe things I desire to bestow
\nshe may not
\nyet know
\nbut she’s as eager to learn
\nas I am to show
\nwhat is this I’ve discovered
\nbeyond a mere lover
\na bond as organic
\nas a child to its mother
\nmy first experience of
\njoy on the heels
\nof a love not quite real
\nan experience that almost
\nkilled
\nmy heart’s will
\nto extend
\nitself to ever again
\nlove and befriend
\nanyone else
\nmy faith at its end
\nhow grateful I am
\nalthough it took
\nso long
\nand I endured
\nso many turns
\nthat were wrong
\nI want nothing
\nmore in a partner
\nthan what I now have
\nsomeone to test me
\nmake me genuinely laugh
\nmy true other half<\/p>\n
