From slavery and genocide
\nto Jim Crow outrages,
\nYour imprint is all over
\nAmerika’s racist history pages.<\/p>\n
The most heinous abuses
\nwere at your behest,
\nBrutalizing slave women
\nand their children no less.<\/p>\n
Because produced
\nby your husband’s disloyalty and rapes,
\nYou often had
\nthe babies sold away.<\/p>\n
Destroying families
\nspreading hopelessness,
\nOur unimagined pain
\nyour feigned helplessness.<\/p>\n
Then there were
\nthe thousands lynched and,
\nPublicly tortured and humiliated
\nbecause white women<\/p>\n
Falsely accused them
\nof sexual abuse,
\nWhich you often did
\nin order to excuse<\/p>\n
Yourself from blame
\nfrom the public shame,
\nOf having relations
\nwith a Black man.<\/p>\n
It was consensual
\nsecrecy made the intensity great,
\nBy when you feared others’ suspicion
\nyou screamed rape!<\/p>\n
Even more times
\nwhen nothing happened at all,
\nBlack males falsely accused
\nyou let take the fall.<\/p>\n
A bump in an elevator
\na whistle a desirous look,
\nYou were silent or cheered
\nas their lives were took.<\/p>\n
Entire communities assembled
\na spectator event,
\nGruesome public executions
\nfor crimes they didn’t commit.<\/p>\n
As if lynchings weren’t
\nenough for pause,
\nEntire Black communities destroyed
\nand you were the cause.<\/p>\n
White riots ran rampant
\nyou didn’t make a sound,
\nLike Rosewood and Black Wall Street
\nburned to the ground.<\/p>\n
There were also your urges
\nforced on Black men,
\nTo lay with you
\nor you’d have them lynched.<\/p>\n
Then there was eugenics
\nwhite feminist women led the plan,
\nTo eradicate us
\nby sterilizing Black women.<\/p>\n
Hundreds of thousands fell victim
\nno one remembers their names,
\nBut it inspired the Nazi program
\nof doing the same.<\/p>\n
Sterilizing millions of Jewish women
\nGypsies and outcasts,
\nThis is your legacy
\nthis is your past.<\/p>\n
Black men were your playthings
\nBlack women your rivals,
\nWe served as compensation
\nfor your own suffering and survival.<\/p>\n
In a society where all endured
\nwhite male domination,
\nInstead of being an ally
\nyou elected to prey on<\/p>\n
Other victims of
\nthis degenerate order,
\nPlaying to white male violence
\ninciting so much slaughter.<\/p>\n
There was a danger
\nof which many still live in fear,
\nYour power to summon great violence
\nwith crocodile tears.<\/p>\n
The mantra was
\nprotecting white womanhood,
\nInvoked to justify genocide slavery
\nlynchings and white hoods.<\/p>\n
When innocent Black children
\nmarched to integrate schools,
\nYou spat on them
\ncursed them beat them like mules.<\/p>\n
Even your feminist ideas
\nrun counter to the gender unity,
\nWe need to sustain our families
\nrepair our communities.<\/p>\n
With its whitewashed history
\nthere was never a time,
\nWhen Amerika has acknowledged
\nit’s history of racist crimes.<\/p>\n
If we’re to come to terms with the truth
\nthat brought us where we are,
\nWhite women’s role must be acknowledged
\nwhich is only the start.<\/p>\n
Of the work needed
\nto move past this place,
\nWhere we can come to embrace
\nthat we are only one race…
