Against the tide

\nBecause unity is the key

We live in poverty imprisoned

We\u2019ve been taught from day one
\nto rely on our enemies,
\nOn those who exploit us
\nas if their intentions are friendly.<\/p>\n
The system we suffer under
\nis much much bigger,
\nThan the small corner of the world
\nreserved for what they call niggers.<\/p>\n
It all ties together
\ninto a seamless whole,
\nA capitalist system
\nthat spans the globe.<\/p>\n
Its center of power
\nlies right here,
\nIn Amerika
\nthe place you love so dear.<\/p>\n
Like plantation slaves
\nwe\u2019ve been taught,
\nTo love the hand
\nthat sold and bought.<\/p>\n
Our bodies our families
\nto use us for our labor,
\nTo make the owner rich
\nand give us only crumbs as favor.<\/p>\n
We should own the plantations
\nand reap the wealth,
\nCause we produced everything
\non it ourselves.<\/p>\n
We were taught to drop our heads
\nwhen authorities approached,
\nWho could do to us what they willed
\nwithout reproach.<\/p>\n
And so today
\nit\u2019s still the case,
\nWhen confronted by cops
\nwe must hide our true face.<\/p>\n
Become passive fearful
\nif we make an error,
\nWe may he shot dead
\nso we live in terror.<\/p>\n
Just like slavery days
\njust like Jim Crow,
\nWe still ain\u2019t free
\nwe just don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n
Cuz we\u2019re distracted by
\nempty drama,
\nChasing meaningless
\nfads and bent by trauma.<\/p>\n
Taught to hate fear envy
\nourself,
\nCompeting like crabs in a bucket
\ntaking pride in inflicting death.<\/p>\n
On our own people
\nhow insane is that?
\nDoing more damage to Blacks
\nthat the racists in white hats.<\/p>\n
But look what the Panthers did
\nthey taught us how to survive,
\nTo meet all our needs by cooperation
\nbrought the people alive.<\/p>\n
And the thing you don\u2019t know
\nis the composition,
\nOf the panthers was women
\nfrom rank and file to leading positions.<\/p>\n
But now you wanna degrade our women
\npush them all the way back,
\nTreat them like the old Southern racists
\nonly value them on their backs.<\/p>\n
Then we peddle poison
\nright where we rest our heads,
\nMaking our neighbors addicts and thieves
\na literal walking dead.<\/p>\n
Look how absurd we behave
\nhow insane we must appear,
\nWalking and talking tough
\nbut in reality living in fear.<\/p>\n
One cop walks on the block
\nkillers throw weapons and run,
\nBut put one of their own in front of them
\nhe\u2019ll see the smoking end of a gun.<\/p>\n
Yeah we need revolution
\nto wake us up to reality,
\nCuz we doped up psyched out
\ndone lost our minds in totality.<\/p>\n
So you see why we need you
\nto join this movement,
\nDivide and rule is why
\nwe\u2019re in this predicament.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s like in prison the cons
\noutnumber guards 50 to one,
\nThe guards only have control
\ncuz they\u2019re united and move as one.<\/p>\n
But if the prisoners united
\nin the same way,
\nThey would take control
\nthat very same day.<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah they could overpower
\n\u201ctheir captors I damn sho see,
\n\u201cWalk right out the gates
\n\u201cand all be free.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI get what you\u2019re saying
\n\u201cyou definitely changed my mind,
\n\u201cI\u2019m down with this movement to free the people
