2020 VISION (2023)<\/p>\n

A pandemic
\nbrought things
\nto a halt,
\nNo vaccine no cure
\nno clues how caught.<\/p>\n

Closest of kin
\nclosest friends
\npassed on with no warnings,
\nLike instant nightfall
\nfrom a bright sunny morning.<\/p>\n

Shelter in place
\nnary a face
\nnor social gathering,
\nNo clue
\nwhat to do
\nwhat tomorrow
\nmight bring.<\/p>\n

Schools closed
\nfearing common colds
\non insanity’s edge many teetered,
\nLocked in
\nlike locked up
\nonsets of cabin fever.<\/p>\n

Then summer came
\none name caught fire,
\nThe straw that broke our backs
\nof police lynchings we’d grown tired.<\/p>\n

A video gone viral
\nbrought many into accord,
\nThe world bore witness
\nto this lynching
\nhis name George Floyd.<\/p>\n

Cities erupted
\nthe masses disrupted
\nbusiness as usual,
\nFor the powers that be
\nthe thing that proved most unusual.<\/p>\n

Was the racial unity
\npeople the world over
\njoined in the melee,
\nAmerika’s false image shattered
\ncouldn’t make the world unsee.<\/p>\n

What for generations it devised
\nto hide
\nhad always
\nlied and tried,
\nTo portray itself as
\nfair and just
\nto all people
\non all sides.<\/p>\n

Now everyone knew
\nthis place was no beacon of
\nhope,
\nIt was a capitalist empire
\nwith the rich man’s
\nknee on the whole world’s throat.<\/p>\n

So the destruction
\nwasn’t random nor
\nsmash and grab from stores,
\nBut efforts to target the rich
\nstatus symbols burned by
\nthe poor.<\/p>\n

This was the vision
\nto end
\nclass division
\nthat 2020 brought forth,
\nShining like a beacon
\na light to freedom
\nlike a star in the north.<\/p>\n

The status quo was shaken
\nhad to recover
\nhad to stop it,
\nSo it sent in civil rights fakers
\nambulance chasers to coopt it.<\/p>\n

The likes of Al “the Rat” Sharpton
\nand money sharks like Ben Crump,
\nBlack versions of
\nopportunists like
\nDonald “the Nazi” Trump.<\/p>\n

Bereaved families were
\ndiverted into courtroom
\ntheater,
\nTo settle accept a check
\nto absolve the
\ncreators.<\/p>\n

Of all our suffering our pain
\nour poverty our losses,
\nManipulating the workers
\nto reconcile
\nwith the bosses.<\/p>\n

With a bit of police
\ncoercion and diversions on the side,
\nThe people were ordered off
\nthe streets
\ntheir energy spent
\nthey complied.<\/p>\n

So it was back
\nto the old
\nclass exploitation and
\nracial division,
\nBut for a minute
\nwe saw through the bullshit
\nwe all had
