Free The Motherland<\/p><\/div>\n

Why do we like
\nTo proclaim,
\nThat we are kings and queens
\nFrom royalty we came?<\/p>\n

It was a response to
\nWhite supremacist lies,
\nThat compared to Europeans
\nAfrikans were never civilized.<\/p>\n

To counter these claims
\nThe insult and despair,
\nWe referenced Afrikan societies
\nThat we could compare<\/p>\n

To the monarchies
\nFeatured in Europe’s past,
\nTo show Afrikan had
\nKingdoms more grand and vast.<\/p>\n

To prove we weren’t inferior
\nWe made it seem,
\nThat ALL Blacks descended
\nFrom kings and queens.<\/p>\n

Which would be impossible
\nBy any calculation,
\nSince monarchs are just a fraction
\nOf any population.<\/p>\n

And not only were monarchs
\nInsignificant in number,
\nThey were the most corrupt
\nAnd oppressive slave owners.<\/p>\n

A small ruling elite
\nWho answered to no one,
\nBound by heredity
\nSo their tiny line could go on.<\/p>\n

Under claims of divine right
\nTo rule for all time,
\nWith right of succession
\nDetermine by bloodline.<\/p>\n

They cared nothing about
\nThe common people,
\nWhose labor they exploited
\nIn no ways equal.<\/p>\n

They didn’t champion freedom
\nThey held slaves,
\nForced peasants to work the fields
\nFrom cradle to grave.<\/p>\n

Allowed to keep
\nScarcely enough to survive,
\nThe lowest and largest groups
\nBarely kept alive.<\/p>\n

The greater portion
\nOf what they produced,
\nThey had to hand over
\nTo the monarchs to use.<\/p>\n

Denied control of their crops
\nFamines were routine,
\nStarving masses were
\nCommonly seen.<\/p>\n

Dying in droves
\nAcross the landscape,
\nLeading them often
\nTo become irate.<\/p>\n

Peasant and slave
\nRevolts were the norm,
\nThe royalist response
\nViolence and scorn.<\/p>\n

The kings and queens would never
\nAddress them,
\nOnly send in royal armies
\nTo violently suppress them.<\/p>\n

Too high and mighty
\nFor the company of laborers,
\nCaring nothing to hear
\nTheir pleas for favor.<\/p>\n

Lower lords took advantage of
\nTheir daughters and wives,
\nForced to sell children away
\nTo save their lives<\/p>\n

To become concubines and slaves
\nThere was no limit,
\nTo the outrages suffered
\nAnd the sacrifices given.<\/p>\n

Slaves were forced to
\nExtract and work up raw materials,
\nThen build huge royal monuments
\nPalaces and places of burial.<\/p>\n

To make the monarchs
\nSeem larger than life,
\nGods on earth
\nWho reduced everyone else to strife.<\/p>\n

Remember Pharaoh
\nAnd the Hebrew slaves,
\nThis was a story to illustrate
\nHow ALL kings behave.<\/p>\n

This is why democracies
\nWere revolutionary and new,
\nGiving the common people
\nSome power to choose who would rule.<\/p>\n

Under these systems
\nThey could have grievances pled,
\nThings for which monarchs
\nWould sever their heads.<\/p>\n

So kings and queens
\nAre not people we should aspire,
\nTo imitate emulate
\nPraise or admire.<\/p>\n

Doing so definitely
\nWon’t free us,
\nNor will it affect nor should it matter how
\nWhite supremacists see us.<\/p>\n

In this day and time
\nWhat we need,
\nIs not princesses or princes
\nKings or queens.<\/p>\n

We need power
\nAll ruling classes dethroneneed
\nSo the common people
\nControl and own.<\/p>\n

The wealth
\nThat their labors produce,
\nSo they can determine
\nIts appropriate use.<\/p>\n

We don’t want to be monarchs
\nWho don’t see or treat us as equals,
\nWe want to end all oppression
