Some return in coffins
\ndraped with flags,
\nSome with limbs missing
\nSome with minds in tatters and rags.<\/p>\n

Disembarking planes
\nMet on runways by their missus,
\nAnd children aged in their absence
\nA reunion of hugs and kisses<\/p>\n

Your experiences have imprinted
\nOn you in unexpected ways,
\nEven left many demented
\nFor the remainder of your days.<\/p>\n

But your loved ones were safe
\nThe entire time you were away,
\nWhat about the places you invaded
\nAnd those who had to stay.<\/p>\n

In lands ravaged by your wars
\nFamilies killed and terrorized,
\nWhose communities you strafed and bombed
\nConcealed from your own family with lies.<\/p>\n

You can’t tell them what you were doing
\nCertainly not heroic or legal,
\nThe real imprint you left
\nUnder the banner of stars stripes and eagles.<\/p>\n

You invaded and occupied others lands
\nWhat if the situation were reversed,
\nIf some ruler didn’t like your ruler
\nAnd invaded your country first.<\/p>\n

If armored vehicles copters and planes
\nMoved across your landscape at will,
\nAnd under any pretext at all
\nUsed every manner of weapon to kill<\/p>\n

Those who dared fight back
\nWhich I’m sure would include you,
\nHow the fuck would you feel
\nWhat the fuck would you do?<\/p>\n

And not just resisters
\nBut babies elders and women,
\nWere the victims of the violence
\nIndiscriminate victims of the killing.<\/p>\n

Schools hospitals holy places
\nCenters of civilian events,
\nWere also deliberate targets
\nPlaces incapable of defense.<\/p>\n

To put it simply
\nJust imagine if what you did,
\nIn Iraq and Afghanistan was done to you
\nYour friends your family your kids.<\/p>\n

Amerika boasts the greatest fighting force
\nThe world ever saw,
\nBut it hasn’t fought an actual military
\nSince 1950 the Korean War.<\/p>\n

Where the U.S. called for a truce
\nAt the hands of Chinese volunteers,
\nFleeing in history’s longest retreat
\nOf China they still live in fear.<\/p>\n

Every other conflict since
\nAll of which were invasions,
\nWere fought against civilians
\nPoor people in undeveloped nations.<\/p>\n

All were based on lies
\nLater revealed in the mainstream press,
\nAnd although the people were poor without militaries
\nThey still got the best<\/p>\n

Of the invading U.S. forces
\nalthough in great numbers they died and bled,
\nThey expelled their invaders
\nAmerika turned tail and fled.<\/p>\n

You weren’t defending or protecting
\nAmericans with your armed forces,
\nOnly serving the rich and powerful
\nIn stealing others’ natural resources.<\/p>\n

And what of the high incidence
\nOf abuse and sexual violence,
\nAgainst U.S. women soldiers
\nWho must uphold a code of silence.<\/p>\n

And when vets returned home
\nAmerika left most high and dry,
\nNo mental health or resource support
\nMany left homeless to die.<\/p>\n

Veteran survival rates are lower
\nThan actual combat deployment,
\nFrom suicide and then there’s prison
\nAnd lack of gainful employment.<\/p>\n

So where does this put you
\nOh patriots of an empire of shame,
\nWhose legacy is one of massacring poor people
\nBut losing each war just the same?<\/p>\n

You should be a patriot of humanity
\nTo the people of the world,
\nNot the tools of insanity
